Your Kids Are Your Life

They are your Biggest Love and Responsibility.

You have questions that are going unanswered.

You may be upset or frustrated.

You may not feel heard.

Initial Consultation Prior to Taking Case
  • Generally second opinions tend to be medically complex cases that require time to compile, thoroughly review, consolidate the data, and evaluate.  Once the information is scrutinized – depending on the case – data may be graphed in order to convey what happened. Finally, the opinion is written.
  • An initial 1-hour consultation is required to evaluate the complaint and the case complexity.
  • At the conclusion of the hour consultation, Dr. Sun can then determine whether this service would be a good fit, and if so provide a cost estimate to provide a medical second opinion.
What Won't I Get?
  • A purchased opinion that automatically agrees or disagrees with anyone. Dr. Sun truly loves the practice of medicine and believes in the scientific method. Medicine is not up to a specific person, per se, it’s up to peer reviewed standards and guidelines that every physician is bound to practice by as a boarded and licensed physician.
  • A hurried, rushed cursory review of your child’s medical record. The application of high standards that was expected in medical school and residency will be applied. A careful and meticulous gestational, birth, medical, social, medication history and reconciliation is extremely important. Reviewing medical records can be one of the most time-consuming tasks — but invaluable.
  • Left with the feeling that you weren’t heard. Second opinion cases are very complex and difficult. Sometimes, depending on the case, it may take several in-person visits and conversations. Usually people feel like they need a second opinion because they either, weren’t adequately explained and communicated with, didn’t have all their questions answered, or simply felt their concerns dismissed.
What Will I Get?
  • Expect to be asked a lot of questions. It’s ok if you don’t know or don’t have all the answers — but second opinion requires a lot of investigation and time.
  • Expect to be asked for as much medical records as you can requisition, as directed by Dr. Sun. This can be “a hassle” filling out forms and submitting them to the respective medical office or hospital. Dr. Sun will help find the forms, you will have to fill out and sign them.
  • Dr. Sun’s time and expertise. Her medical opinion is not given out lightly. This is your child’s health and well being. It is taken very seriously.
How Will You Provide Your Opinion?
  • A written medical report will be provided.
  • Medicine is it’s own language. As this is a medical case it will be written in medical language and not written specifically for easy reading by someone not in the medical field.
  • Dr. Sun will, however, take time with you to ensure you understand the written opinion and answer any questions you may have about the findings.

What Is Your Office Like?
  • You can expect a humble, small, modest, clean, no-frills office.  There is no administrative staff, nor medical assistants as Dr. Sun performs all her own work. Pictures are on the ‘How It Works‘ page.
  • As you can imagine, the cost to provide a brick-and-mortar location is expensive, then couple that with providing medical services, the equipment and regulations required – it sometimes can be out of reach.
  • If you have an in-clinic appointment, there will never be a waiting room full of people. Appointments are separated by a substantial amount of time.  When you arrive,  the time and clinic is blocked only for you.
  • Dr. Sun was able to create two physically separate suites within what was once fully occupied by a computer shop. Now the suite in the back is the computer repair shop (Suite D2) , and her medical office occupies (Suite D1). We went through ~8 months of work to make this happen with the City of LA and San Pedro.
Why Make an Appointment Here?
  • Dr. Sun’s practice philosophy and goal is to provide the best care for you while making the experience pleasant and not a chore.
  • Why does going to the doctor have to be so dreaded?  If you think about it – it’s typically the arduous, impersonal, maze-like process that virtually everyone tries to avoid.
  • This is a low volume, doctor run office.
  • Simple and straightforward.
  • Make a choice to have a good experience, because every experience you have in life – matters.
  • Because you want to.
