What is Your Office Like?
- You can expect a humble, small, modest, clean, no-frills office. There is no administrative staff, nor medical assistants as Dr. Sun performs all her own work. Pictures are on the ‘How It Works‘ page.
- As you can imagine, the cost to provide a brick-and-mortar location is expensive, then couple that with providing medical services, the equipment and regulations required – it sometimes can be out of reach.
- If you have an in-clinic appointment, there will never be a waiting room full of people. Appointments are separated by a substantial amount of time. When you arrive, the time and clinic is blocked only for you.
- Dr. Sun was able to create two physically separate suites within what was once fully occupied by a computer shop. Now the suite in the back is the computer repair shop (Suite D2) , and her medical office occupies (Suite D1). We went through ~8 months of work to make this happen with the City of LA and San Pedro.

What is a Respirator Medical Evaluation?
- The most basic respirator that many are now familiar due to Covid-19 with are ones such as the N95 but there are many other types.
- OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) requires medical evaluation before any employee can event be fit-tested, or wear, a respirator.
- Medical evaluation requires filling out a questionnaire which Dr. Sun will review and make determination based off of this.
- This option is not offered on its own.
- Available in employer package.
- Available for individuals who also require Fit Testing or other services.
What is Respirator Fit Testing?
- Available ~April 1, 2024
- A Respirator such as an N95 is considered a tight-fitting respirator, meaning it should fit without any leaks.
- After you have been medically cleared to wear a respirator, you then need to be fit tested to wear the appropriate fitting mask.
- At this time, Qualitative Fit Testing is able to be performed. This is the most common method and typically used for half-mask respirators.
What is Spirometry?
- In medicine, we use Spirometry to measure your lung performance and volumes.
- It is considered a pulmonary function test and can be performed in a medical office environment.
- We often use spirometry to help diagnose, confirm or monitor diseases that are considered “obstructive” such as asthma, COPD and other pulmonary diseases.
- You will be oriented to what the expectations of the test are in-office. Generally though, you can expect us to ask you take a full deep breath in (inspiration) and then breathe out as hard and fast as you can into a specialized measuring device. With this inspiration and expiration we are able to measure some important indices we need to measure your lung function.
What is NIOSH Spirometry?
- NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety & Health) could be considered the research arm of OSHA (Occupational Safety & Health Administration).
- OSHA creates regulations for Employers and their Employees.
- OSHA requires that employees exposed to certain materials such as cotton dust and cystalline silica (maritime, construction, mfg.) have spirometry tests and that these tests be administered by a Provider who is NIOSH Certified.
