What is Travel Medicine?
- As you go through life, you realize how much there is to know about so many things. Then you realize — one can’t ever know it all.
- The world is a huge place with millions of different ecosystems, cultures and ways of life.
- As fascinating as ecological diversity is, it can introduce a traveler to risks and hazards you may not have thought of.
- Herein is where travel medicine benefits you. There is a whole industry in medicine, science and government concerned with travel and it’s effects on the local and transient populations.
- You have important, meaningful things to achieve on your trip. Mindfulness of where and when you are visiting with the intention to have fun, while wisely aware of the risks that may present. You can prepare for risk — but only if you know about it!
- One can never fully eliminate risk, but the goal of travel medicine is to attempt to assess your risk based upon where in the world you are traveling to and the activities you will be participating in.
- A travel medicine visit has specific travel education & resources for locations across the world. The need for prophylactic medication (malaria and other diseases), vaccines (routine and travel specific), protective gear and/or preventative items that you may not have even thought of — and potentially cannot purchase where you are headed.
- A travel medicine visit should also provide you with the knowledge regarding present travel warnings, hazards, security bulletins etc. that may have been issued for your travel destination.
Entertainment Industry, Corporate, Collegiate or Professional Adventure Travel
- Business travel often benefits from having a Travel Medicine Physician at their fingertips for the benefit and safety of their employees.
- Here in Los Angeles, the Entertainment Capital, many travel to remote locations for scouting location, brief or prolonged filming and other related entertainment circumstances.
- Traveling for College related studies? Many go to remote or distant locations for scientific studies and being prepared is very important.
- Prepare comprehensively for your Company, Employees, Team or Yourself by scheduling a Travel Medicine consultation today.

When Should I Consider making a Travel Medicine Appointment?
- Traveling internationally presents so much fun and intrigue, but also presents significant risk. Mitigate that risk to as low as possible by preparing.
- Traveling domestically a consultation can definately be advantageous especially if doing adventure sports, racing, hiking, camping and any exposure that elevates the potential for disease (Lyme and Tick Borne diseases for example).

What Is Your Office Like?
- You can expect a humble, small, modest, clean, no-frills office. There is no administrative staff, nor medical assistants as Dr. Sun performs all her own work. Pictures are on the ‘How It Works‘ page.
- As you can imagine, the cost to provide a brick-and-mortar location is expensive, then couple that with providing medical services, the equipment and regulations required – it sometimes can be out of reach.
- If you have an in-clinic appointment, there will never be a waiting room full of people. Appointments are separated by a substantial amount of time. When you arrive, the time and clinic is blocked only for you.
- Dr. Sun was able to create two physically separate suites within what was once fully occupied by a computer shop. Now the suite in the back is the computer repair shop (Suite D2) , and her medical office occupies (Suite D1). We went through ~8 months of work to make this happen with the City of LA and San Pedro.
Why Make an Appointment Here?
- Dr. Sun’s practice philosophy and goal is to provide the best care for you while making the experience pleasant and not a chore.
- Why does going to the doctor have to be so dreaded? If you think about it – it’s typically the arduous, impersonal, maze-like process that virtually everyone tries to avoid.
- This is a low volume, doctor run office.
- Simple and straightforward.
- Make a choice to have a good experience, because every experience you have in life – matters.
- Dr. Sun has studied, traveled and lived abroad. It remains a life-long passion. Some of the places she has traveled: Egypt, Ghana, Zimbabwe, Costa Rica, Europe (many Countries), Mexico, Canada. Still so many places on the list, yet to be visited!
